Publication Schedule

Publication Frequency

Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan (JIKA) is published three times a year, with issues scheduled for April, August, and December. Manuscripts may be submitted throughout the year.

JIKA is committed to maintaining a consistent publication schedule while ensuring the quality, integrity, and relevance of its published articles to the field of health sciences.

Editorial Process and Publication Timeline

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their suitability for the journal's aims and scope, originality, completeness, and compliance with the Author Guidelines. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening proceed to peer review in accordance with JIKA's editorial policies.

Following peer review, authors may be required to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers' comments and editorial recommendations. The Editor makes the final decision based on the manuscript's scientific quality, the reviewers' assessments, and compliance with the journal's requirements.

The editorial and publication process consists of the following stages:

  1. Manuscript Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal's online submission system.
  2. Initial Editorial Screening: The editorial team evaluates the manuscript's scope, originality, completeness, and compliance with submission requirements.
  3. Peer Review: Manuscripts considered suitable are evaluated by qualified reviewers according to the journal's peer-review policy.
  4. Revision and Editorial Decision: Authors address reviewers' comments and revise their manuscripts when required. The Editor determines whether a manuscript is accepted, requires further revision, or is rejected.
  5. Production: Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, language preparation, formatting, proofreading, and other production procedures.
  6. Publication: Finalized articles are published in the scheduled issue after the editorial and production processes have been completed.

The duration of each stage may vary depending on reviewer availability, the extent of revisions required, and the completion of editorial and production procedures. Submission or acceptance does not guarantee publication in a particular issue.

Bilingual Publication Policy

Beginning with the August 2026 issue, JIKA has implemented a bilingual publication policy. Articles submitted and accepted in Indonesian are processed for publication in both Indonesian and English after entering the production stage. Similarly, articles submitted and accepted in English are processed for publication in both English and Indonesian during the production stage.

This policy aims to broaden access to scientific information, facilitate the dissemination of research findings to national and international audiences, and enhance the visibility of scientific contributions in the field of health sciences.

The bilingual process begins after a manuscript has completed peer review, the required revisions, and editorial acceptance. Both language versions undergo editorial quality control to ensure consistency in scientific meaning, terminology, references, tables, figures, and other relevant content.

The bilingual publication policy does not change JIKA's regular publication schedule of April, August, and December. The publication of each article remains subject to the completion of editorial procedures and the preparation of both language versions during production.

Commitment to Timely Publication

JIKA strives to publish articles according to its established schedule while upholding scientific quality, transparency, publication ethics, and editorial standards. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts well in advance of their intended publication issue and to respond promptly to editorial and reviewer requests.
