Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines for JIKA

Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan (JIKA) is a peer-reviewed journal focusing on issues in the field of health, including preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative domains. JIKA only accepts original research articles (primary priority), case study articles (secondary priority), and recent scientific literature reviews (tertiary preference). JIKA publishes three issues per year (April, August, December) using a peer-review and editorial selection system. Submitted manuscripts undergo validity screening by peer reviewers, as well as selection and editing by the editorial team.

Article Criteria

  1. Original Research Articles (Primary Priority): Original research findings related to Health Sciences, including: medical and clinical research, nutrition and public health research, midwifery management research, and nursing management research. The structure consists of: title, authors and affiliations, abstract, and text (introduction, methods, results and discussion, conclusions & recommendations, and references).

  2. Case Studies (Secondary Priority / Not Priority): Articles describing interesting and beneficial cases for readers within the field of health sciences.

  3. Recent Scientific Literature Reviews (Tertiary Preference / Not Preferred): Review articles providing a synthesis/review of a phenomenon or scientific topic in health, written with attention to current relevance and reader benefit.

Instructions for Authors

  1. Originality: JIKA only publishes original works that have not been published in any other journal.

  2. Language: Manuscripts must be written in proper, clear, concise, and standard Indonesian or English.

  3. Formatting & Page Setup:

    • Font & Size: Times New Roman, 11 pt for Abstract; 12 pt from Introduction to References.

    • Paper Size: A4 format.

    • Margins: Top = 3 cm, Bottom = 3 cm, Right = 3 cm, Left = 3 cm.

    • Alignment: Justified (left and right). Tables and figures must fit column dimensions.

    • Length: Minimum of 5 pages.

  4. Submission System:

    • Manuscripts must be prepared using computer software in .doc or .docx format.

    • Manuscripts must be submitted online via the Open Journal Systems 3 (OJS3) portal on the JIKA website:

  5. Systematics for Original Research Articles:

Detailed Formatting Instructions

  1. Title: Font Times New Roman, bold, UPPERCASE, inverted pyramid layout. Font size 14 pt for Indonesian and 12 pt (italic) for English. Subtitles may be added if necessary.

  2. Authors & Affiliations: Maximum of 6 listed authors. If more than 6, append "et al." or "dkk." Authors must list study program / institution / city / country of origin. Correspondence email must be formatted in Times New Roman, Bold, Capitalize Each Word, 11 pt.

  3. Abstract: Must be provided in both English and Indonesian. Length should not exceed 250 words and must be placed below the title and author names.

  4. Keywords: Accompanying the abstract in both English and Indonesian, placed directly below the abstract. Minimum 3 words, maximum 6 words; preferably avoiding exact repetition of title words.

  5. Citations & References: Use "et al." in text citations for more than two authors; however, all author names must be written in full in the reference list. References should be compiled according to the Harvard system using Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero JIKA version.

Note: Reference lists must be sorted in alphabetical order by primary author's surname. Only references actually cited in the manuscript should be included. This section must contain only references that are directly cited in the manuscript. Citations and reference list must be managed using the Mendeley application with the Harvard (with title) citation style.
