Manuscripts submitted to the Jurnal Ilmiah Kesehatan (JIKA) will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin plagiarism detection software before entering the copyediting stage. All manuscripts must undergo this screening to ensure academic integrity and compliance with publication ethics. JIKA applies a maximum similarity threshold of 25%. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be subject to further editorial evaluation and may be rejected if plagiarism or self-plagiarism is identified.
JIKA requires all authors to adhere to international standards of academic integrity, particularly regarding plagiarism and proper attribution of sources. Plagiarism occurs when an author uses ideas, information, or words from another source without appropriate acknowledgment. Even when unintentional, plagiarism constitutes a serious academic violation and is unacceptable in scholarly publishing.
Authors must provide appropriate citations whenever they use specific information from a source, including names, dates, locations, statistical data, or other detailed information, except where the information is established common knowledge. Authors must also cite the original source when adopting another author's ideas, interpretations, methodologies, conclusions, or explanations of broader developments in a field, even when those ideas are subsequently developed or extended. Further analysis or elaboration does not remove the obligation to acknowledge the original source.
When using another author's exact words, authors must provide appropriate citations and use quotation marks or other clear quotation formatting, as applicable. Paraphrased material must be rewritten appropriately and accompanied by citations to the original source. Authors should not present another author's words, ideas, or findings as their own.
JIKA takes academic integrity seriously. The editorial team reserves the right to request revisions, reject a manuscript, or withdraw acceptance if plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or other violations of publication ethics are identified. Similarity reports are evaluated by the editorial team in context; the similarity percentage alone does not automatically determine whether plagiarism has occurred.
