1. Main Principles and Ethical Standards All articles published by JIKA must uphold the highest standards of scholarly publication ethics, adhering to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Declaration of Helsinki, and the National Journal Accreditation (ARJUNA) regulations. The Editorial Board is committed to ensuring that all research involving human subjects or animal models is conducted responsibly.
2. Ethical Approval Requirements (Ethical Clearance)
-
Interventional Studies and Animal Research: Any manuscript involving physical or medical interventions on humans, vulnerable populations, or animal testing must state the ethical approval number and submit an official copy of the Ethical Clearance certificate from an accredited Health Research Ethics Committee (HREC/KEPK) upon manuscript submission.
-
Observational and Minimal Risk Studies: For observational, descriptive, qualitative studies, or medical record analyses that did not undergo formal HREC review due to technical or field limitations, authors must attach a signed and stamped (meterai) Ethics Declaration Letter, guaranteeing the implementation of fundamental ethical principles.
3. Informed Consent Provisions For studies involving human subjects or informants, authors must explicitly state and explain in the Methods section that:
-
All participants/informants received a comprehensive explanation regarding the research aims, procedures, and benefits.
-
Written Informed Consent (or documented verbal consent) was obtained voluntarily from all participants prior to data collection.
-
Anonymity and data confidentiality were fully maintained through data coding procedures.
-
A sample of the blank Informed Consent form approved by respondents must be uploaded as a Supplementary File if the manuscript lacks an official Ethical Clearance certificate.
4. Editorial and Peer Review Evaluation The Editorial Board and Peer Reviewers reserve the right to evaluate the validity of ethical procedures and Informed Consent compliance for every manuscript. Submissions that fail to demonstrate adherence to participant safety, confidentiality, and fundamental rights will be automatically rejected (desk reject).
